My season has finished and although I didn't do as many races as previous years, it has been a long season. The 2025 season for me is going to be different as I become a father. I will be focusing on being the best dad I can be to our twins which are due very soon and much earlier than expected however I still have one goal which is to get to the 2025 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in a competitive shape and fulfil all my sporting goals.

Things will change I know this, but I am also ready to adapt, exercising is always important to me; not only is it my life, it has a huge positive impact on my mental health, so I just can't stop. I will be using my free time even more wisely and training more smartly, although I train smartly now I will have to try and be even more smarter with it. I am getting older so the higher volume of training is not sustainable anymore but that's fine, but I know I still have more to give and for some reason I am still improving. I am still getting faster which is a good sign, however for me it is now about enjoying it more, it still feels like yesterday (2012) when I bought a pair of running shoes and started this journey.

So for training I will be flexible and fit what I can in when I can, I did this in 2023 when we were going through tough IVF cycles, I didn't train as much and it had a positive impact. So my main race is the Ironman World Champs in Marbella which is in November 2025, if all goes well it will be a family holiday, and hopefully before that I will run London Marathon again depending if I can fit the training in.  The rest of the year I haven't decided what races to do but I will be at some races, I just want to see how it goes. With the twins due January but it appears much sooner now I don't think I will up my training for a few months as the main goal is getting to November 25 in good shape so therefore I need to recover and I don't want to train for a long period of time as my body gets tired and needs a break.

Although time will be limited I will still be swimming, cycling and running and of course strength training but they will be lot shorter sessions. So watch this space I am still here and will be racing 🙂

You are probably wondering what I do with my Hero bags in the off season, of course I use them at races but in the off season they don't just go in a cupboard, because they are robust and last for a long time I take them swimming with me.  They hold my towel and clothes in one and the other side all my swim toys.  I also use them to carry stuff to my summerhouse when training and when I go away for overnight stays. They will come in very handy for baby stuff too due to their versatility when I am out and about.
